About St Mary's Music School
St Mary's Music School, Edinburgh, is Scotland's specialist music school and the Choir School of St Mary's Cathedral. It is independent, co-educational, day and boarding, and educates children with a special talent in music. Entry is by audition at any stage, between ages 9-19 and places are awarded on musical ability and potential, regardless of personal circumstances. Government funding, up to 100%, is available through the Aided Places scheme to assist with the cost of tuition and boarding fees.
The Scotsman (16 May 2007) featured St Mary's Music School as a “School of Excellence” - “Specialist school turns out brilliant musicians but also offers a great all-round education to its pupils - and consistently excels in exam league tables.”
The Sunday Times: Parent Power 2007-08 names St Mary's Music School as Scotland's independent secondary school of the year.
